Around the House

There is a reason 2011 ended abruptly and 2012 got off to a slow start. Dan got a new knee for Christmas. He hobbled around the house for a while, but was back at work within 6 weeks.

2 We took in a 1940's music show. It seems to be the kind of thing we do at this time of year.
3-4 The big snow of 2012. It's been a particularly warm winter with more thunderstorms than snow. In fact, to date (2/20), this has been the only snow we've had and it wasn't much.
5 March brought the Congregational Nurse Awards Dinner - both of Maureen's programs were recognized. (Holy Trinity Church and "Her" Refugees.
6-7 On Saturday, March 31st there was a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dan's company was a majot sponsor so we got to go the the special reception on Friday evening. We got the meet actual war heros and heard some very interesting speeches. The finale of the night was a private concert by the Oak Ridge Boys.
8-11 We participated in a 5K race with our friend Barbara. We walked and finished last. However Dan did win a certificate for a pair of running shoes. His claim to fame: he was the oldest participant in the race. Most of his body was 63 years old. The right knee was 4 months old.
